Pick up a self-led spotter sheet from the ticket office and see what types of butterflies and bees you can identify in the beautiful 5.5 acre garden.
Can you buzz like a bee or flutter like a butterfly? Which flower would you choose to gently land on if you were them and why?
Once you're done be sure to visit the medieval Adam Tower, where signs of the castle's medieval past can be seen. Have fun dressing up in armour, go on the hunt for the medieval garderobes (toilets to you and me) and murderholes, and venture down into the two-level dungeons... if you're brave enough!
The outdoor play area at Home Farm near the ticket office is a fabulous spot to keep little ones entertained and to run off some energy.

Firelight Trio
19:30 7th June 2024
at Hermon Arts
OswestryFirelight Trio
19:30 - 22:30 7th June 2024
More InformationExperience the vibrant heart of Europe with Firelight Trio - where every note weaves a tapestry of tradition and innovation, and every performance is a journey through the continent’s soulful melodies and spirited rhythms.
Firelight Trio is a mighty new group featuring Fatea instrumentalist of the year 2023 Gavin Marwick (fiddle), accordionist Phil Alexander (Moishe’s Bagel), and Ruth Morris (Outlander – HBO) on the beautiful Swedish Nyckelharpa. They play European music that is evocative, inventive, and endlessly exciting. Ruth’s resonant nyckelharpa is matched by Gavin’s powerhouse fiddle, all backed up by Phil’s groovily inventive accordion and piano, in a rich tapestry of lively Swedish polskas and Scottish reels, lilting French waltzes, toe-tapping klezmer, dazzling original tunes and more.
‘A veritable roots music supergroup’ – RnR magazine
‘Top-calibre trio with grace, energy, and playfulness’ - Folk Radio UK
‘Achingly beautiful’ – Fatea
‘Deeply expressive, impressively virtuosic and cheekily sardonic, all in perfect measure’ Songlines ****
‘Simply splendid… three musical giants’ – RnR magazine
‘Absolutely superb, thrilling and mesmerizing performance! A truly memorable concert and 100% enjoyable from toddlers to seniors.’ -Laura Pyrrö, cultural producer of Espa Stage, Helsinki.
They had a fantastic live review from St George's, Bristol, which you can read here: https://www.fatea-records.co.uk/magazine/live/3CW.php/
The album is on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/3BG0uHyMWZg6DWnpbAughi
Or on Bandcamp: https://firelighttrio.bandcamp.com/album/firelight-trio
‘It's very hard not to think about Europe and be desperately furious about loss when listening to this incredible album by Firelight Trio. It's stuffed with Latvian marches, French Chapelloise, Balkan Polskas, Ukrainian klezmer tunes and German jigs. At every turn it is joyous, deliriously uplifting, wildly inventive, it is breathtakingly beautiful, gently contemplative, wonderfully thoughtful. It is, in short, everything that makes European music so great.’ – Gavin McNamara

OswestryD-Day. 80th Commemorations
All Day - 8th June 2024
Cae Glas ParkMore InformationWe will be commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy on Saturday June 8th in Cae Glas Park. Further details to follow. The D-Day landings of 6th June 1944 was the largest seaborne invasion in history. Along with the associated airborne operations, it marked the beginning of the liberation of France and western Europe. Unprecedented coordination between Allied nations, and the intensive planning of engineers, meteorologists, logisticians and countless more, led to a force from 13 countries approaching Normandy in a 5000-vessel armada. In the early hours of D-Day, 24,000 paratroopers and glider-borne troops landed behind German lines to provide tactical support. Massive naval and aerial bombardments attempted to supress the German defences and weaponry. Then a ground force of more than 130,000 troops came ashore on five beaches across a 50-mile stretch of Normandy coast, with the first waves often facing intact defences. By the end of D-Day there had been 10,000 allied casualties. Yet this was only the beginning. The ensuing Battle of Normandy was to last into August and cost tens of thousands of lives as it defeated and repulsed the occupying German forces eastwards. It was a decisive success for the Allies and paved the way for the liberation of much of north west Europe.

Tickets are £20 per person. This includes entry to the garden for the event, but normal admission charge applies into the castle.

15:00 - 17:00 15th June 2024
More InformationDelighted to welcome back to Hermon the ever popular Rick Wilson.
Come try your hand at percussion, literally.
Born and educated in London, Rick started messing around with drums in his mid-teens whilst recovering from the fall-out of inadequate secondary music teaching. Listening to a wide selection of musics developed a can-do attitude that grew quickly after meeting other like-minded souls. He embarked on a performing career with rock bands including The Work before diversifying his skills and experience with musicians from other traditions, and increasingly linking music with story and other art forms.
Initially self-taught on kit, he later studied Chenda temple drumming with Shankaran Marar and V.D.Nair in Kerala, south India; Berber rhythms in the Atlas mountains of Morocco and Brazilian carnival music with Sheda Baba in London.
As accompanist for education and performance dance projects, he has worked with Shobana Jeyasingh, T. Oonikrishnan and P.Jayachandran.He has also been a tutor for WOMAD and Glyndebourne and spent many years working throughout the UK with Common Lore Storytellers and Musicians, as both performer and teacher.
In 1999 Rick completed a degree (2:1) in Music Studies at SOAS in London. With regular collaborator Helen East, he has visited schools at all levels, teachers’ centres, theatres, conferences and festivals in the UK and worked in Australia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South America, Singapore and Portugal, often under the aegis of the British Council.

Erddig HallWrexham,More InformationPhotography is the art of telling a story without the need for words and Erddig has a long tradition of celebrating the changing faces, personalities and everyday memories of people who worked and lived here.
In tribute, we host monthly photography walks that allow participants to explore Erddig down to the most minute detail, whilst also learning all there is to mastering the art of photography.
From 8 June -14 July we will transform our small exhibition space into a photography exhibition showcasing fantastic pictures taken at Erddig inspired by history, scenery, or our conservation work using images taken by visitors, volunteer leaders and participants from our monthly photography walks.
