The White horse,More InformationTo Make People Happy is a new show for festivals, theatres and village halls, created by writer and theatre maker John Osborne (Sky 1’s After Hours, John Peel’s Shed). There has never been a better time for an uplifting show. To Make People Happy explores the humour section of second hand book shops, jokes overheard on market stalls and finding the positives in life. With audio clips of moments guaranteed to make an audience happy, this is a poetry show with a difference.
John is a regular on the rural touring circuit, having performed shows regularly in village halls, pubs, churches, community centres and libraries.

An initial talk introducing these illusive nocturnal mammals will be followed by a walk around the meadows and riverside looking for bats foraging and commuting and listening to the wonderful sounds they make as they use ultrasound to find their way and hunt their prey.
Loan bat detectors to convert their ultrasonic calls to ones we can hear will be available or please bring your own along if you have one.
Meet for introductory talk at 7.15pm followed by walk after sunset.

Four acre garden created around C16 house (not open). Formal structure creates variety of gardens each with own colour theme and character. Planting is mainly of perennials many in their late summer and early autumn hues, particularly the asters.
Created 40 years ago around a Tudor house (not open), this quality garden has been extensively filmed by all major TV channels and also Japanese TV.
Designed by the owner, Lesley Jenkins, this outstanding garden combines a strong structure with clever planting combinations using perennials. The early spring shows of anemones, hellebores and trilliums are followed by tulips, aquilegias and oriental poppies. The summer roses herald the arrival of the delphiniums which in turn give way to the dominance of stately hollyhocks and vibrant phlox. August sees the hot garden ignited which still burns when the asters and euonymus seed capsules arrive in September.
