Created in 2006 on 50 acres of unspoilt, pastureland scattered with mature oaks by John and Liz Ravenscroft. Located on a hilly area overlooking the Cheshire plain with views to the Pennines in the north, the Peckforton Hills to the northwest and the Breiddons to the southwest. It is a showcase of specimen trees with magnolias, peonies, dahlias, lilacs, deciduous azaleas and North American oaks.
April is an avenue of white magnolias in many varieties. The earliest of the cherries will also be opening. A series of trails and paths run between the meadows and native wildflowers in the arboretum.

Join us for a film and evening meal as we enjoy Song Sung Blue and a delicious lasagne from our Shropshire Hills cafe.
Song Sung Blue is a musical drama based on the true story of Mike and Claire Sardina, a Milwaukee couple who formed a popular Neil Diamond tribute band called "Lightning & Thunder". The film is inspired by the 2008 documentary of the same name and follows their journey from humble beginnings as impersonators to becoming beloved regional performers, capturing the highs and lows of their careers and relationship through significant personal challenges, showcasing themes of dreams, resilience, and finding joy in music.
Beef or veggie lasagne will be available from 5.30pm, served with garlic bread and salad. Licensed bar and cinema snacks will also be available.

Designed by the late, great plantsman, John Treasure and featuring over 100 varieties of clematis in addition to a myriad of plants in wonderful combinations and colours.

More InformationShropshire Tasty Trail is a popular walk and eat event that follows a route through the Shropshire countryside, along footpaths and through private land not usually open to the public. Along the way, walkers enjoy a three-course meal made from locally sourced products.
The event is taking place on Sunday, April 26th and will follow a new route starting from Ellesmere’s historic Oteley Estate. The route will pass meres and cross privately owned land, through fields and woodland. It will be the first time the event has taken place since 2023.
A 9.5 mile route has been plotted that will have three stations where the starter, main course, and dessert will be served, washed down by either a locally produced beer, cider, liqueur or soft drink, with acoustic live music to spur you on.
