Singing Workshop

at Wenlock Abbey
Much WenlockSinging Workshop
10:00 - 16:30 6th September 2025
More Information1-Day Singing workshop in the Prior’s Hall of Wenlock Abbey, Much Wenlock
With Faith Watson, leading member of The Natural Voice Network.
The course runs from 10am – 4:30pm and includes tea/coffee & biscuits. Please bring your own packed lunch.
Cost £35Whether you’re a confident acapella singer, or having a go for the first time, you’ll be able to join in fully. We’ll have a go at some short, straightforward songs that bring quick rewards, as well as some that offer a bit of a challenge for those who want it; we’ll sing in a few different styles and more than one language; there will be some gentle songs and some with toe-tapping rhythms; and scrumptious harmonies are absolutely guaranteed. All the songs will be learnt by ear, unencumbered by music scores and word sheets, so that we can immerse ourselves in the sounds we’ll create and in the beautiful environment we’ll be singing in.
Faith Watson is a member of the Natural Voice Network. She has been leading harmony singing workshops since 1998 and, through her business: Singing for Larks, she runs a regular harmony singing group in Greater Manchester, her own programme of day and weekend workshops around the UK, and one-off workshops, projects, holidays and events for other groups and organisations. She also offers training and mentoring to other natural voice leaders.
You're The Top - THE LIFE & SONGS OF COLE PORTER

atYou're The Top - THE LIFE & SONGS OF COLE PORTER
19:30 - 22:00 6th September 2025
More InformationAfter her highly successful EDITH PIAF show here at The Edge last October, we’re thrilled to welcome back musical theatre actress Sally Jones (Evita, Into The Woods, Oliver) with her critically acclaimed tribute to one of the most successful songwriters of the 20th Century - the legendary COLE PORTER.
With world class songs made famous by the greats like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Billie Holliday, “YOU’RE THE TOP” takes the audience through the famous swing classics of the 40’s and 50’s and also celebrates the glorious and golden era of Broadway and Hollywood with the most memorable and catchy songs from Anything Goes, Kiss Me Kate and High Society.
In this thoroughly entertaining and uplifting performance Sally also gives a fascinating insight into the colourful and eventful life of this bon vivant - a life full of glamour, success, wild parties, challenges and also tragedy.
“YOU’RE THE TOP” features vintage and top quality songs that really have stood the test of time - classic songs like “Night & Day”, “You’re The Top”, “So In Love”, “It’s De-Lovely”, “My Heart Belongs To Daddy”, “Just One Of Those Things”, “I Get A Kick Out Of You”, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”, “Let’s Do It” and many more.
COLE PORTER was quite simply a genius and the pinnacle of wit and sophistication. From being one of the original Tin Pan Alley composers of New York City to his huge Broadway and Hollywood successes, he delighted audiences with a glittering torrent of over 900 songs. The bright surfaces of these gems - their catchy melodies and ingenious lyrics - made them instant hits. And their more subtle qualities and their musical and emotional depth have made them lasting standards, among the very best of the celebrated Great American Songbook.

Described as a ‘master musician’ (Blues Matters), Amit Dattani, a distinctive voice in the folk scene releases his much anticipated second album, Wrong Kind of One in September 2025, alongside a cluster of live dates.
When acclaimed finger-style guitarist and songwriter Amit was diagnosed with a degenerative nerve condition in 2018, the prognosis was devastating: just two more years of playing guitar before his hands would no longer cooperate. For a musician whose artistry was deeply rooted in the strings beneath his fingertips, it felt like an ending. But Wrong Kind of One is proof that some stories don’t end the way they’re expected to.

"Telling a story that people can relate to, is so important to me with my songs, but what comes first, every time, is the sound - always searching for open chords, dissonance, resonance, tension... and from that comes an atmosphere, a direction of feeling that the song needs to take, that almost describes the lyrics that follow."
