Immersive Art Exhibition By Lisa Lochhead
For thousands of years, yews have been revered as trees of mystery, transformation and thresholds — their extraordinary longevity and presence connecting the living world with the ancestral and unseen.
It is into this mystery that Roots of Belonging invites you, as you enter the Sacred Grove and journey into some of Shropshire's most ancient yew trees and the sacred places they have watched over for centuries. Some of these remarkable trees have stood for over 2,800 years, witnessing the changing landscape and quietly holding the memory of those who have lived, gathered and worshipped beneath their branches.
Through a collection of symbolic paintings, Roots of Belonging is an invitation to remember our relationship with the land, our ancestors and the enduring spirit of place. Inspired by the mythology, history and living presence of each ancient yew, the exhibition offers a contemplative journey into the memory held within the Shropshire landscape.
As you move through the Sacred Grove, you are invited not simply to observe these ancient trees, but to pause, listen and remember. Here, the paintings become a meeting place between the visible and the unseen, where the memory of the land is gently revealed and our connection to place can be felt once more.‘ROOTS OF BELONGING’

But the reality?
It’s just a room full of single people in the same position as you.
Some have been single a while.
Some are newly single.
Some haven’t dated in years.
Everyone is simply there to chat, meet new people, and see what happens.What makes our events different?
We’ve been running these events for over a year and a half now, and we sell out almost every single time.That means on the night, you can expect:
* Around 16-19 men and 16-19 ladies
This isn’t one of those events where you turn up and the numbers are off. We carefully manage the balance so everyone gets the same experience.
What happens on the night?
When you arrive, you’ll check in and have a chance to settle in with a drink.We start by giving everyone time to chat casually in same-gender groups, so you can relax before the dating begins.
Then the evening is split into two halves:
* You’ll have 4 minutes per date
* With 1 minute in between to make notes
* You’ll meet everyone of the opposite sex
It’s just enough time to get a feel for someone without any pressure.
How do matches work?
At the end of the night, you simply hand in your card and let us know who you’d like to see again.If they’ve chosen you too, we’ll send you both each other’s phone numbers the next day.
No awkwardness. No pressure. No asking for numbers on the spot.
Safety and atmosphere
We take safety seriously, so you can relax and enjoy the night.* Discreet safety sentence available if you need support

* We oversee the car park at the end of the evening
You’re in a safe, well-run environment from start to finish at lovely hotels and venues.
Why do people love it?
We now have over seventy 5-star reviews, and people consistently tell us the same thing:They were nervous walking in and completely fine within minutes.
There’s something quite special about being in a room where everyone is single and open to conversation. That doesn’t happen very often anymore.
If you’ve been thinking about it then this is your sign to give it a go.

The Creation - Joseph Haydn - Shrewsbury Cantata Choir
19:30 21st November 2026
atThe Creation - Joseph Haydn - Shrewsbury Cantata Choir
19:30 - 21:45 21st November 2026

More InformationHaydn’s The Creation, first performed in 1798, is one of the great choral works of the Classical period. Inspired by the biblical accounts of the creation of the world, together with Milton’s Paradise Lost, Haydn’s oratorio moves from the primordial darkness to the creation of light, the natural world and, finally, humanity. Its three-part structure combines solo arias and recitatives with choruses of remarkable variety, from the dramatic opening to the celebrated The Heavens are Telling. Haydn’s vivid orchestral writing gives musical form to storms, sunrise, the changing seasons and the animal kingdom, while the final section celebrates Adam and Eve and the harmony of the newly created world.
