AN EVENING WITH HANNAH CROSBIE – CORKER WINE TASTING
19:30 18th April 2024
at Booka Bookshop
OswestryAN EVENING WITH HANNAH CROSBIE – CORKER WINE TASTING
19:30 - 20:30 18th April 2024
Booka BookshopMore InformationJoin us for an evening of wine tasting with Hannah Crosbie as she talks about her new book Corker, the go-to guide that matches wine with life’s important (and unimportant) events.
Wine personality, broadcaster and writer Hannah Crosbie is on a mission to demystify the world of wine. Hannah is one of the most exciting voices in wine today and is giving the traditional wine book an overhaul. Inspired by the most frequently asked questions from her followers, Corker is a fresh and relevant guide that pairs wine with life’s important (and unimportant) events.
Understanding that how and what we drink is ultimately rooted in occasion, Hannah brings her unique perspective to the page, arming readers with the confidence to navigate any wine list, bottle shop or supermarket aisle. What bottle do you buy the first time you meet the in-laws? What do you order on a date if it’s going well? If it’s not going well? What should you drink on a plane? Pairing sage advice and tongue in-cheek humour, Corker is a wine book that celebrates the everyday drinking and doesn’t take itself too seriously.
This is a guide for wine novices staring nonplussed at supermarket shelf, as well as wine lovers who might already know their Chablis from their Chenin, but still need some inspiration when picking the
best bottle for their budget and the occasion. With a glossary of key terms as well as seasonal recommendations – from the first summer barbecue through to the festive period – Corker is the accessible go-to guide for a new generation of wine drinkers. An approachable and informal guide to wine from Sunday Brunch’s new wine expert Hannah Crosbie, aka ‘the Nigella of Wine’.
We are delighted to be partnering with Momentum Wines for this event and look forward to welcoming Hannah Crosbie to Oswestry for some ‘deeply unserious’ wine tasting in the bookshop!
Tickets: £25 (Admits one, includes wine tasting and a signed copy of Corker) or £35 (Admits Two, includes wine tasting and one signed copy of Corker).

More InformationDelivering a colourful cocktail of musical influences, Worcestershire’s Chloe Mogg creates a spacious journey that will take you through all the emotions of music. A driving force in the West Midlands music scene wherever that’s in journalism or creating music, Chloe’s a singer-songwriter who aims to bring life and her vibrant colour to every project. Turning relationship breakups, childhood stories, and identity crises into something positive, the past decade of Chloe’s life has accumulated into her debut album “The Crazy One”. Armed with mental health themes, discrimination towards disabilities and heartbreak, the album has one theme throughout and that’s growth. Engineered and mastered with the help of Alex Vine Ruiz (Swan Studios), the release primarily features Ali Clinton (Conflict Choir, Bernie Marsden from Whitesnake, Uli Jon Roth), Jack Bowles (Thomas Atlas) & George Cook (Thomas Atlas).
A big advocate in raising awareness for ‘invisible’ illnesses, Chloe was featured on BBC Radio 1’s Minute of Me & as a featured artist for BBC News online. During the first lockdown in 2020, Chloe co-created The 7 Arts Still Exist, a platform where artists and musicians could share their talent online. The event went viral and received praise from BBC Radio 1 and beyond. Recognising her work, Chloe received the ‘Local Hero’ at the AIM Music Awards in 2021.

AN EVENING WITH LIZ EARLE – A BETTER SECOND HALF
19:30 2nd May 2024
at The Holroyd Community Theatre
OswestryAN EVENING WITH LIZ EARLE – A BETTER SECOND HALF
19:30 - 20:30 2nd May 2024
More InformationJoin us for an evening with Liz Earle as she talks about her new book A Better Second Half and passes on her tips for living a healthier, happier life.
Liz Earle shows us how to future-proof our health in midlife and beyond using evidence-based techniques, ideas and wisdom accumulated over her years of experience in the wellbeing arena.
We all know that midlife women are often hit the hardest of all health-wise, sandwiched between bringing up our families, juggling work and caring for ailing parents, and it is all too easy to lose sight of ourselves. But whatever stage or age you are there is hope and many ways to take back control of your health – physical, mental and emotional – and make yourself a priority rather than bottom of the to-do list.
Liz Earle will sort the fads from the fiction in wellbeing and break through the noise that surrounds all the online advice that can overwhelm us. She has taken this mission to heart with her empowering new book A BETTER SECOND HALF. Part a retrospective of her life and part a brilliant, distillation of self-help, Liz puts forward what we need to do to live well and age well through midlife and beyond. Never shy of making her body a testing lab for new discoveries, Liz shares important information on the gut-brain axis, nutri-genomics, the efficacy of high intensity weight training, the pros and cons of low carb diets, biohacking techniques and much, much more.
Liz Earle is one of the most-trusted voices in wellbeing today and here she shares her hard-won wisdom, practical advice and know-how that can turn the tide on those feelings of dejection and can have us heading into our second halves full of vigour and hope to live longer and better.
This is sure to be an informative and empowering event. We look forward to welcoming Liz to Oswestry to celebrate the publication of A Better Second Half.
Author Biography: Liz Earle MBE is a champion of women’s health, a media influencer and author of many books. She is a TV presenter, podcast host and charity-founder. Her career has spanned 30 years and she is an authority in the world of natural beauty, nutrition, health and wellbeing.
Tickets: £12 without book (Admits One, ticket redeemable against a signed copy of A Better Second Half) or £22 with book (Admits One, includes a signed copy of A Better Second Half)

Add in a GRAMMY nomination for the album Double Play and his place in the Transatlantic Sessions band, singer songwriter John Doyle is one of the greatest folk artists of our time.
