BridgnorthJABS - behind the screens
19:30 - 9th July 2022
More InformationIf ever a play was guaranteed to connect with everyone … its JABS. We've all been on the receiving end. But what is life like at the other end of the syringe?
In March 2020, “Three Men in A Bowtie” performer Sally Tonge took the unlikely step of retraining as an NHS vaccinator. She soon realised that her Covid-19 vaccination pod was the smallest theatre in the world ... and that the procession of people stepping into it were pure comedy gold.
JABS is played largely for affectionate laughs ... with a few gentle moments of poignancy, a smattering of new songs and a touch of audience participation.
Sally plays herself ... whilst actors Christina Cubbin and Paul Wilkinson portray an assortment of 16 characters … in a play scripted and directed by the BBC’s Chris Eldon Lee.

10:00 - 17:00 24th July 2022
More InformationAfter 2years Ludlow Rotary Club’s Annual Dog Day is back again - but this year, in conjunction with Church Stretton Rotary Club, it’s bigger and better than ever!
Ludlow and Church Stretton Rotary Clubs are finally holding their 7th annual Dog Day (Covid permitting, this time!) Once more it is in the beautiful grounds of Stokesay Court, situated approximately 6 miles north of Ludlow and just off the A49.The emphasis of the day is on fun for all the family, including our furry friends. You will be able to participate in over 20 classes from the scruffiest mutt, the fastest sausage eater, to the best young handler, up to the best in show. Throughout the day various demonstrations will take place with many past favourites including; The Paws for thought and the Paws of Parham display teams, Bliss Gate Obediance and West Glen Heelwork; Nick Burne Blood hounds and many more besides Plus new additions such as Bob Hogg’s Dog and Ducks – a popular draw wherever he and his ducks appear.
There are always a number of Have a go challenges, including dog agility, gun dog scurry and new for this year, fun dog racing.
As well as all the doggy events there are stalls selling canine related goods, a wide range of food stalls, and for those with a thirst there is the popular tea tent, Pimms’ tent and the Hobsons’ Bar.As a result of the money raised over the last 6 years at the annual Ludlow Dog Day, Ludlow Rotary Club has been able to distribute over £120,000 to a range of charities and community organizations.
This years’ chosen charities are Hope House Children’s Hospices who provide care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families from Shropshire, Cheshire, and North and Mid Wales, St Michael’s Hospice, Hereford is dedicated to the support of patients affected by a terminal illness and their families and Ludlow Rotary Cares which is run annually by Ludlow Rotary Club and provides small grants to help local charities and organisations make a real difference in the community.
So, if you are looking for a wonderful day out in support of three very good causes, then join us on Sunday 24th July to celebrate our furry friends in all their glory amidst the glorious setting of Stokesay Court, For more information please go to www.ludlowdogday.org.uk

ShrewsburyPitchford Hall Tour
14:30 - 16:30 27th July 2022
Shrewsbury, SY5 7DNMore InformationDescribed as Britain’s finest half-timbered house, Pitchford Hall was owned by the Colthurst family for more than 500 years before being sold in 1992. Now on the ‘at Risk’ register, the house has been bought back by Rowena Colthurst and her husband, who are embarking on the massive task of saving it, following 25 years of neglect. The house is named after a natural pitch well in the grounds. Prince Rupert hid from the Roundheads in the priest-hole here during the Civil War and Princess (later Queen) Victoria played in the Tudor-style treehouse. The ‘restoration’ tours will include the main rooms on the ground floor, the priest-hole room and the Princess Victoria’s bedroom. We sometimes include the Victorian kitchen, unrestored Victorian wing and the General’s Quarters (west wing) and the attic in the tour. Tea and cakes will be served in the great hall, old library or on the lawn.
