19:00 - 22:30 30th May 2025
Castle Hall, BridgnorthMore InformationAmbitious, genre-busting folk’ The Guardian
Following the release of their new album ‘Parlour Ballads’ (Hudson Records) – released Sept ’24 - Jon Boden & The Remnant Kings return to the live arena with their unique brand of post-apocalyptic folk played in a traditional style vs. traditional folk played with post-apocalyptic swagger.
Boden’s Waitsian parlour ballads and Napoleonic power-pop, will be performed alongside the band’s fifteen-year back-catalogue of traditional and original songs and tunes. The band combines a deep understanding of traditional music with musical audacity and theatrical brio, and feature the enormous talents of Sam Sweeney (Bellowhead), Rob Harbron (Leveret), Ben Nicholls (Seth Lakeman Band), Sally Hawkins (Bellowhead) and the vocals and pedal-steel guitar of cult singer-songwriter M.G. Boulter.
Support for the evening comes from the wonderful Katie Spencer - The songwriting, and most notably her guitar playing stems from a time when the steel-stringed instrument was truly finding its voice. Artists like Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and perhaps most evidently Michael Chapman, flow into her sound, carrying with them the warmth and idealism of the early 70’s folk and songwriter movements.

ShrewsburyBella Hardy UK Tour
19:30 - 22:00 6th June 2025
More InformationBella Hardy, the inimitable voice of modern folk, is set to embark on a highly anticipated UK tour.
Hardy, a singer-songwriter with a gift for storytelling, has earned a reputation as a boundary-pushing artist whose work continues to evolve whilst staying deeply rooted in the traditions that shaped her.
This is spellbinding folk music for the modern age – rooted in tradition but unafraid to venture into new, uncharted, and very personal territory.
With the ability to conjure and twist stories that call straight to the heart, her themes of displacement and home, lost and found love, heartache and joy, are delivered with her unique, disarming honesty, and, of course, the acclaimed crystalline voice that won her BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Singer of the Year.
With award winning guitarist Jenn Butterworth by her side, these shows promise to be something truly special.Speaking about the tour, Bella says, “There’s something magical about performing live, where the songs can grow and change each night depending on the energy in the room. I’ll be performing a collection of songs very close to my heart, and there’s nothing like the energy of a live show to bring them to life.”

More Information‘Swilkie’, the new album from highlands-based songwriter Iona Lane, weaves ecology, conservation, islands and folklore into poetic songs and contemplative melodies. Written during three residencies on the Isle of Eigg, Isle of Mull and Sanday in Orkney, sense of place and landscape are at the core of these songs. From basking sharks to lighthouses, lichen to vanishing islands; the album was recorded in a boathouse on the west coast of Scotland and the eager listener may even hear the lapping sound of the high tide murmuring through the album. Iona’s connection to places by the sea is translated through these songs and evolving vocal melodies, subtle guitar and droning shruti box are at the heart of the album.

26 June at the Rankin Club in Leominster
27 June at St Anne's Church in Bewdley
28 June at Violet's Team Room in Bridgnorth
